ABOUT
A practitioner does not cure. A practitioner stays with you.
In the A-On Voice Method, it is not the practitioner who cures the client. Some people find it easier to relax when they turn their attention to their own voice, breath, and resonance. The practitioner guides the client into that time and stays with them through it.
A safe place to close your eyes, and someone attentive close by. That is what a practitioner of the A-On Voice Method offers.
The method was devised by the late Master Yukou Ueda, a Shingon head priest and Zuigen’s teacher and father, out of his wish to help more people. Working by touch, he could be with only one person at a time. From that came a way of reaching people through the voice saying “Ah.” His wish is coming true little by little, as practitioners grow in number one by one.
The A-On Voice Method is a time of relaxation. It is not medical care, and practitioners do not diagnose or treat.
The method draws on the history of the sound “A” in Japanese Shingon Buddhism, but it is not meant to change, replace, or deny your own religious beliefs or worldview. People of any faith, or of none, are welcome. We also avoid words such as “healing” and “healer,” which can be mistaken for medical treatment, and use “method” and “practitioner” instead.
CURRICULUM
What you will learn: 5 parts, 8 chapters
You begin by savoring the time of “Ah” yourself. Then you learn how to guide others through the same time, with the reason behind each step.
Part I · Understanding
The practitioner’s place; how it works, and hypotheses
Why we practice this method, and what is thought to be happening with voice, breath, and resonance. Once you can tell what research has shown apart from hypotheses, you can answer a client’s “Why?” in your own words.
Part II · Experiencing and conveying
Doing self-care yourself; guiding others through self-care
Observe your own experience through a practitioner’s eyes, then learn how to explain the session, how to use your voice, how to stay with the client, and how to bring the session to a close.
Part III · Practicing safely
Safety
Who should not receive a session, possible reactions and how to respond, emergencies, and the practitioner’s promises.
Part IV · Sessions with equipment
How the equipment works and how to choose it; sessions with equipment
How equipment that turns the client’s voice into vibration and delivers it to the back works, how to choose the parts and what to watch for in terms of safety, how a session flows, and how to handle unexpected situations (in teaching videos).

PATH TO CERTIFICATION
How certification works
Everything is online and at your own pace.
- Study the text and teaching videos (Chapters 1–7)You watch the videos on the student page.
- Written exam35 multiple-choice questions; You need 28 or more correct answers to pass. You may consult the text while answering, and retake it as many times as you like, free of charge.
- Situational-judgment examWritten answers about unexpected situations, such as a client feeling unwell or making a complaint.
- Practice sessionWith a volunteer who has agreed to take part, you guide a self-care session and submit a video of 5 to 10 minutes along with a short reflection report. Your volunteer’s face does not need to be shown.
- Certification fee and certificationAfter we confirm your payment, we issue your certificate within 7 days and add you to the private site for certified practitioners.
CERTIFICATION
What certification confirms, and what it does not
This is a private certification issued by Zuigen for the A-On Voice Method. It confirms that you can guide a self-care session safely and appropriately. It is not a medical qualification, and it is not a qualification or license recognized or issued by any government. You are responsible for checking the requirements that apply where you offer sessions.

Certification confirms your knowledge of guiding self-care, consent, and safety. Choosing the equipment and checking it before use are up to you. You prepare the equipment after certification, at your own pace. Practice with the teaching videos, and complete every item in “Checks Before Using the Equipment” (including setting an output limit) before your first session with equipment.
AFTER CERTIFICATION
What you can do afterward
- Call yourself a “Certified A-On Voice Method Practitioner.”
- From the day you are certified, offer self-care sessions and accept payment, following the terms of use.
- Once you have built the equipment and completed every check, offer sessions that turn the client’s voice into vibration and deliver it to the back.
- We take no royalties on your session income, and there are no renewal or annual fees. To keep your certification, you confirm it once a year, free of charge, with the “Renew” button on My Page.
- Share insights with other practitioners on a private site for certified practitioners.
You can offer self-care sessions from the day you are certified, even without equipment.
PRICE
Costs
Prices are in US dollars and are the same for everyone. They do not change with exchange rates. Payment methods will be announced when enrollment opens.
Tuition

Materials, teaching videos, exams, and written support.
Certification fee (once)

$100 for certification, and $100 for running the program and maintaining the servers, including the private site for certified practitioners. No renewal or annual fees (the yearly confirmation on My Page is free).
Resubmission, 4th time onward (each)
$50
The situational-judgment exam and the practice session each include up to 3 submissions in tuition, counting the first. Everything you resubmit at one time counts as one submission, and the two are counted separately. The written exam is always free to retake.
Teacher Training (for practitioners certified at least one year ago): tuition $600 and certification fee $200, plus a Teacher annual fee of $160 (a single fee, even if you are a Teacher of both methods). Teachers set the fees for the courses they run themselves.

Not included
- A zero-gravity chair (a reclining lounge chair, around ¥10,000). It is not required for certification, but you will need it when you offer sessions with equipment
- Equipment parts, and the cost of building the equipment or hiring someone to do it. Zuigen does not sell equipment. Using the Equipment Selection Guide, you either choose the parts and assemble the equipment yourself, or hire a specialist
- Liability insurance. Sessions are given on your own responsibility, so we recommend it

The total of about ¥80,000 or more is an estimate based on the products Zuigen uses. You can also choose less expensive products and build the equipment yourself; for example, some headsets with a microphone cost under ¥10,000. Equipment you already own lowers the cost further. Please use products that comply with the laws of your region.

Before you apply
- Before you apply, you will be asked to read and agree to the School Terms of Enrollment on the application page.
- The A-On Voice Method is a time of relaxation. It is not medical care and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
- No research has yet studied the A-On Voice Method itself. The course separates related research on sound, voice, breath, and vibration from hypotheses built on it.
- To give sessions to others using these materials or the name, you need certification, whether or not you are paid, and this includes family and friends. The only exception before certification is the practice session for the exam. Practicing self-care for yourself is always free.
- When you are certified, you agree to the Certified Practitioner Terms.
- Laws on consumer contracts, insurance, and practicing differ by country and region. Please check the rules where you live.
- Because this is a digital product consisting of videos and texts, we cannot give refunds simply because you change your mind or your circumstances change. We also do not give refunds if you stop the course partway, or if you did not get the sensations or results you hoped for. However, we will refund your tuition if, through Zuigen’s fault, your My Page does not work and you still cannot view or download the teaching videos after we try to fix the problem; if you tell us you wish to cancel after paying but before your My Page is registered (before the materials are delivered); if the actual materials differ greatly from what the course information described; or if Zuigen made a procedural error, such as charging you twice. To request a refund, email support@hlc-zuigen.com. Within 7 days of your request, we will tell you whether a refund will be given; approved refunds are made within 30 days through the payment service you used, and Zuigen pays any refund fees. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the law, such as the right to cancel or withdraw from a contract.

FAQ
Questions
Do I need experience or a special voice?
No. All you need is to have breathed out with your own voice, saying “Ah,” and the wish to offer that time to someone else.
Do I have to buy the equipment to be certified?
No. Buying or building equipment, preparing a zero-gravity chair, and the safety of the equipment are not part of certification. The practice session is a guided self-care session, so your volunteer can sit, recline, or lie in whatever position is comfortable. You will need the chair and transducers when you offer sessions with equipment. You can prepare the equipment later, at your own pace.
Is certification a medical license?
No. It is a private certification issued by Zuigen that confirms you can guide self-care sessions safely and appropriately. It is not a medical qualification or a government-recognized license.
Can I ask questions while I study?
Yes. Send written questions by email to support@hlc-zuigen.com, during the course and after certification.
What happens to my practice-session video?
It is used only to confirm certification and is never made public. It is deleted promptly after review. The other person’s face does not need to be shown.
