A body chart, a name card,
and the sensation in your fingertips.
The NAFUDA METHOD is a prayer practice in which you use sensations in your fingertips as a guide to where to focus your prayer for another person’s peace of mind and body. You write a person’s full name on a small card (a name card, or nafuda in Japanese), lay it beside a body chart (a simple outline of the human body), and quietly turn your attention to your fingertips.
The English course will open after the A-On Voice Method School. Enrollment has not opened yet. If you would like to be told when it does, please email us at support@hlc-zuigen.com.
ABOUT
Using the fingertip sensation as a guide for prayer
When you place a finger on the body chart, you may feel a tingling sensation (piri-piri) in your fingertip. How it feels differs a little from person to person. When you trace the name card with your other hand, the sensation sometimes weakens or disappears at a certain spot, and on some days there is no change at all. A practitioner uses that spot as a guide and prays that the other person’s mind and body may be at peace.
The original method was devised by the late Master Yukou Ueda, Zuigen’s father, who served as the head priest of a temple of the Kōyasan Shingon school of Buddhism. According to family memory, in the 1970s many people lined up each day for his prayers. But one person can reach only so many people, and he wished to train others. No disciple grew to inherit his way, and it came close to dying out. So Zuigen, who is neither a priest nor a disciple, reworked it into a prayer method that is easier to learn, in order to carry on his father’s wishes, together with consent, safety, and clear explanation.
This is a memory handed down in the family, not something confirmed by records. None of it has been proven by science.
The course does not ask you to undergo religious training or to join any religion. People of any faith, or of none, are welcome.
How the sensation arises and whether the practice has any effect on the other person remain open questions. The NAFUDA METHOD is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and it is not a substitute for medical care.
THREE STAGES
How learning moves forward
- Check the sensation for free, with your own nameUsing a body chart and a card with your own name, you explore the sensation in your fingertips and how it changes. You do not fill in the name card at this stage. The free English introduction will be published before enrollment opens.
- Practitioner Training CourseFor those who can notice tingling, or a similar sensation, with their own name and would like to offer sessions to others. Through videos and texts, you learn the practice, how to respond to requests, and how to handle consent, safety, and explanation. You begin practicing for others after you are certified.
- Teacher TrainingFor those who have been certified practitioners for at least one year and would like to train students. Passing the Teacher Training exams is required; one year alone does not make you a Teacher.
It is perfectly fine to stop after checking the sensation for yourself.
PATH TO CERTIFICATION
How certification works
Everything is online and at your own pace.
- Study the text and videos (Chapters 1–7)You watch the videos on your student page, called “My Page.”
- Written exam30 multiple-choice questions; 24 or more correct to pass. You may consult the text, and retake it as many times as you like, free of charge.
- Situational-judgment exam4 open-ended questions that check whether you keep to the basics of consent, safety, and explanation.
- Practical assignmentDone with your own name only. You submit videos of making the name card, of one day’s practice, and of disposing of the card, along with a short reflection. You do not need to show your face. Videos are deleted promptly after review.
- Certification fee and certificationAfter we confirm your payment, we issue your certificate within 7 days. You can then practice as a “Certified NAFUDA METHOD Practitioner.”
CERTIFICATION
What certification means
This is a private certification issued by Zuigen for the NAFUDA METHOD. It confirms that you have met the course requirements. It is not a medical qualification, and it is not a qualification or license recognized or issued by any government. You are responsible for checking the requirements that apply where you offer sessions.
What it checks
- The procedure, from the explanation to the end of the period
- How you explain the session and confirm consent
- Safety and the handling of personal information
What it does not measure or promise
- The fingertip sensation itself (we accept your reflection as your own report)
- Any effect on the other person
- Any ability to recognize illness, or any income

BEFORE YOU APPLY
Before you apply
- Before you apply, you will be asked to read and agree to the School Terms of Enrollment on the application page.
- This method uses fingertip sensations as a guide. To enroll, you must first be able to notice tingling, or a similar sensation, while practicing with your own name.
- Even if you feel the sensation with your own name, we cannot guarantee that you will feel it the same way with other people’s names. We cannot promise that you will pass certification, or that sessions will have any particular effect or bring any income.
- Practitioners pray only for people who have given their consent. For a child, a parent’s or guardian’s consent is required.
- Practicing for others under the name of the NAFUDA METHOD, whether paid or free, comes only after certification. Everyday prayer, such as praying for your family’s safety, is not restricted.
- Because this is a digital product consisting of videos and texts, we do not give refunds simply because you change your mind or your circumstances change, because you stop partway, or because you did not get the sensation or results you hoped for. We do refund tuition if, through Zuigen’s fault, you cannot download or view the materials and they still cannot be used after we try to fix the problem; if you cancel after paying but before your My Page is registered (before the materials are delivered); if the actual materials differ greatly from what the course information described; or if Zuigen made a procedural error, such as charging you twice. To request a refund, email support@hlc-zuigen.com. Within 7 days of your request, we will tell you whether a refund will be given and why; approved refunds are made within 30 days through the payment service you used, and Zuigen pays any refund fees. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the law, such as the right to cancel or withdraw from a contract.
- Before enrolling, please consult a legal professional in your own country or region.
